HCOM 344 - Chicana/Latina Experiences
Offers an intensive introduction to the roots, forms, and impacts of Chicana and Latina feminist discourses. Explores critical analyses of historical and contemporary Chicana/Latina life experiences while presenting theoretical frameworks such as transnationalism, intersectionality, and gender studies.
The Chicana / Latina Experiences class left a great impact on my life. It is sad how women have been undervalued because of how much they have done during the history of our country. Important women who are not given the due recognition. In this class I learned about women who, like men, have done outlandish things. Dolores Huerta is one of the women who made an impact and everyone has heard of her at some point in her life. The woman who has never given up is a great example for us since together with Cesar Chavez they founded the only country. the most important union for agricultural workers. Dolores Huerta, since she was the mother of eleven children, was not an impediment for her. a woman who never gave up said that she was never under guard and continues to work tirelessly for her community. Despite all the work she did with Cesar Chavez after he died, he was not given the recognition that she deserved. This the only thing that she tells us is that we continue to see how machismo continues to exist, since she believed that she knew better than anyone how to manage the foundation and did not win the votes so that she could remain as president of the foundation. Dolores Huerta never gave up because she later founded her own foundation that bears her name and that continues to defend those who defend social justice. Dolores Huerta is an example of prosperity and courage. Not every woman sacrifices so much to defend a cause. Dolores Huerta was fighting for civil rights, women's rights, immigration rights and labor rights. its motto is that all people should be treated fairly and equitably.
